Finding the perfect curly hairstyle is an elusive dream for many. They spend time and money on styling products that don’t work, or they end up with a frizzy mess of curls. However, it’s possible to achieve your goal of looking like you stepped off the runway. Here are five ways you can get the look you want without any fuss!
1. STAY OFF STYLING TOOLS
This is the most important tip that we can give you. Curly hair needs moisture in order to shine and look healthy. Constant use of styling tools will dry up your hair, taking away all the softness and leaving it dull, rough, and not speak of frizzy! Try wearing your hair naturally curly for a change!
Don’t go overboard with products either – use a leave-in conditioner if you feel your locks need it but avoid styling products that can make your curls crunchy or sticky!
2. DON’T FORGET TO BRUSH IT
Brushing your curls when they’re still wet is a big NO-NO, but brushing them after you wash them can get the knots out and help reduce frizz. The bristles of a brush can damage fragile hair, so always use a wide-toothed comb instead.
To get rid of tangles, simply put the comb underneath your hair, working it up to the top. Then sweep the comb through your locks gently until they’re tangle-free.
According to our experience, this will be much more efficient than brushing wet hair or trying to untangle with fingers! You can also use wide-tooth wooden combs for curls if you don’t have chemical-free hair.
3. PLAY WITH TEXTURE
Curly hair can look and feel a little rough and wild, but it’s important to tame the locks before you leave the house! To soften your curls up, simply scrunch in some mousse while your hair is still damp – we recommend products containing either glycerin or aloe vera.
Not only will these products add moisture, but they’ll also add a little shine to your hair and make it seem smoother! You can also style your locks with a curling iron if you’re going out in the evening – this works well for tighter curls.

4. USE CURLING PRODS WISELY
As we just mentioned, using a curling iron on your hair can give you those perfectly bouncy curly hairstyles. However, it’s important to use these tools sparingly and with care! Curls made with a tool tend to last a little longer, but they do take their toll on the hair shaft.
If you must curl your hair with a curling iron, try to do it on dry locks. Keep the temperature low and alternate between curling your entire head of hair or just the ends.
5. STRATEGIC TOWEL DRYING
Ideally, you should gently squeeze water out of your curls instead of rubbing them dry with a towel. This helps prevent frizz and preserves the hair’s natural oils. If you do need to use a towel, make sure you choose one made from cotton – it won’t create frizz like other fabrics!
When we say strategic, we mean don’t vigorously rub your locks because this can damage them and actually encourage fizziness! You should pat your curls dry and squeeze any excess water out gently.
If you feel your locks are a little frizzy, try applying a tiny drop of lightweight oil (like coconut or grapeseed) to the tips of your hair before you leave the house. This will add moisture and tame unruly flyaway!
